Birthday Policies
Each student may bring a healthy treat to celebrate his/her birthday. We will be celebrating student birthdays and distributing the treat during snack time (10:00 am). Cupcakes, cookies and other sugary items are discouraged, as they can result in a "sugar high" followed by a "crash" that will impact students' ability to focus and attend to learning. Check out Healthy Treats for Class Parties or Out of the Box Food for some great ideas.
Please do not send treats that need to be scooped or cut, as we do not have time for this extra step in our busy school day. If you send in a drink, please send it in individual servings (i.e. juice packs/boxes or individual milk cartons or water bottles) that do not need to be poured. Also, please send napkins or paper towels that can be used to contain crumbs/spills.
As mentioned in the St. Mary Handbook, any delivered balloons/flowers will be held in the office until the end of the day, and because of this it is recommended that home delivery be arranged.
A note about invitations: Because it is often difficult if not impossible to invite all students from your child's classroom, please send birthday party & other invitations through the mail (postal or electronic) to avoid any hurt feelings for those students not invited.
