Classroom Rights, Responsibilities and Rules
I will be working with the students to develop rules for our classroom during the first week of school. This gives students more ownership of the rules and allows greater participation in developing our classroom community. These will be posted in the classroom and sent home for parents/guardians to review and sign.
We will also hold occasional class meetings in which we will participate in community-building activities, brainstorm problem solving strategies, and role-play various scenarios that will help us model respect, responsibility, cooperation and Jesus' teachings.
As mentioned in the St. Mary handbook, our classroom has a hierarchy of consequences for both positive and negative behavior. These are as follows:

**Severe negavite behaviors such as fighting or threats of physical violence, extreme disrespect to adults, bullying (as defined in the St. Mary handbook), malicious damage to property, weapons or drugs will be immediately referred to the principal for review and St. Mary discipline procedures will be followed.
